Cr8 is a high-carbon, medium-chromium cold-work tool steel, corresponding to the standard GB/T 1299-2014. The following is a detailed introduction:
Chemical composition: Carbon content is 1.60%~1.90%, chromium content is 7.50%~8.50%, silicon content is 0.20%~0.60%, manganese content is 0.20%~0.60%, sulfur and phosphorus content both ≤0.030%, and allowable residual content of nickel and copper is ≤0.25% and ≤0.30%, respectively.
Main characteristics: Cr8 has high hardness, with a quenched hardness of ≥64HRC, excellent wear resistance, and fine, evenly distributed carbides. At the same time, through reasonable optimization of the chemical composition, Cr8 maintains high hardness while also having relatively high toughness, avoiding the shortcomings of traditional high-hardness steels that are prone to brittleness. Additionally, this steel type undergoes vacuum degassing refining, resulting in a clean steel structure, and after spheroidizing annealing for softening, it exhibits good machinability.
- Heat treatment process: Quenching temperature is 950~1000°C, oil cooling; tempering temperature is 180°C for 2 hours.
